Tips
The ponds and swampy depressions at the site are the remains of intensive leaching of the Werra anhydrite. The water flowing down from the Harz slope came into contact with gypsum and anhydrite on the southern edge of the Harz Mountains, dissolved these rocks and created a large leaching valley.More information here: karstwanderweg.de/kww007.htm
