The Schatzenstein is a 760.4 m above sea level mountain in the Ore Mountains in Saxony.

The Schatzenstein is located immediately northwest of the town of Elterlein on the municipal borders of Zwönitz and Grünhain-Beierfeld in the Grünhain Forest. The Schatzenstein area is a popular hiking destination with several phyllite cliffs up to ten meters high. Due to the dense forest, however, there is hardly any visibility.

The elevation of the Schatzenstein forms a watershed where the Zwönitz rises, which later forms part of the Chemnitz. The other part drains into the Schwarzwasser via various watercourses such as the Oswaldbach. Both are important tributaries of the Zwickauer Mulde. The source area of the Zwönitz includes a large number of springs. One of these springs was enclosed in 1995 and a rest area was created around it.
