The legendary Wotanstein is hidden in the Frauenstein forest between Weiding and Gaistal. According to the chronicle of the town of Schönsee, written in 1980, "Wouzl", a forest spirit dressed in a bearskin, roamed the forests. The picturesque group of rocks on the north slope of the Frauenstein is named after him.
