Gold Educational Trail Oberviechtach

There are 7 stations on the topic of gold in the Upper Palatinate on this 3.5 km long circuit. The gold nature trail leads through a remarkable landscape, the show paws are well made and the paths are easy to walk and signposted. A detour to the "Greinerschleif" is worthwhile.

This station is about the glass industry. After the decline of the iron industry, water and hydropower were used to refine glass. There were numerous iron hammers in the Upper Palatinate and the existing buildings and facilities were now used to grind and polish the glass.
