Here at the foot of the Kirchberg, where the Bräuningstal flows into the Springgrund, you stand at the Trumpeter Oak (see table). The original oak tree burned down in 1880 and a new one was planted in it, which can be visited today. The original one must have been so big that it took 15 children to encompass the trunk.

According to legend, two trumpeters of the warring armies met here after the end of the Thirty Years' War to "blow out" peace from an old oak tree. Today some important paths of the "Little Thuringian Forest" cross here, e.g. towards Schneeberg and Kroatenkreuz or towards Suhl. Well-developed, profiled gravel paths - very easy to walk.
