The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist in Lüchtringen was built in the neo-Gothic style at the beginning of the 20th century after the previous building was struck by lightning and completely destroyed. Because of its spacious design, it is also known as the Weserdom. The church and community belong to the Corvey Pastoral Association in the Höxter Deanery of the Archdiocese of Paderborn.

Luchtringen has had its own church for around 1100 years, as evidenced by a Romanesque baptismal font, which is now in the Diocesan Museum in Paderborn.

In 1901 the baroque church from 1698 was struck by lightning and completely destroyed. The current church was built on the same spot. About a year after the laying of the foundation stone on August 24, 1902, a Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time in the new church on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Bishop Wilhelm Schneider from Paderborn consecrated the church on May 11, 1906.
