The Schwowow Church was built around 1400 from bricks on field stone masonry. The west tower and the country house are whitewashed. The tower entrance has a pointed arch, and inside, a flat wooden ceiling stretches over the nave. The furnishings of the church before 1945 were simple. A six-sided pewter baptismal font shows simple decorations in the form of flowers on the edge and a depiction of the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan in the middle part.

The church, previously a Protestant church for over 400 years, was expropriated in 1945 in favor of the Catholic Church. One of the bells of the Schwowow Church is now in the Trinitatis Church in Braunlage.

Another church with a long history.

Between 1867 and 1893 the church was expanded. The Gothic gable wall and half-timbered annexes at the southern wall were demolished. The nave was extended to the east by about 3.2 m and widened to the south. A new gable wall with an apse in the neo-Gothic style was built. In the enlarged part of the nave, galleries were built, supported by pillars standing in the place of the former wall. The shape of the roof and windows were changed, introducing pointed arches. The walls of the church were covered with plaster.
