"Peter Aal" was set up in 1999 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Maasholmer Sportboothafens. The Aalstechen was often the only way for the fishermen in the winter months to secure their livelihood. The eels in the mud were impaled by ice holes with a sawtooth fork. This form of fishing, which has been known since the Stone Age, has long been banned today.
