As the literature so beautifully puts it: A huge pile of scree, but a very worthwhile mountain hike. And it's true! The ascent can be divided into several sections: the grassy hump below, a sloping ridge to the lower scree hump, then the 15m steep slope, a traverse to the right, then up to the right of the red band, another traverse, and the long final climb to the left of the gully through a huge scree field. The views both along the trail and at the top are simply breathtaking. Particularly noteworthy: the magnificent view of the Zugspitzplatt.

Important: Poles and a helmet are mandatory, as is a high degree of surefootedness and a willingness to face the multitude of scree of all imaginable sizes. Use the cairns as a guide, assuming you can spot them in the sea of rock.

Second highest main peak in Germany with a great view. Danger! Be sure to wear a helmet when climbing!
