Seen from the outside, the building in the shape of a Latin cross has two distinct parts.
The oldest was built in blue stones from the famous quarries of the region, is in ogival style and dates from the 16th century. It bears the name of Saint-Michel chapel and was built on the initiative of Michel de Croÿ, knight of the golden fleece, a member of the illustrious and renowned princely family still present in the region, especially at the nearby castle. du Roeulx.
The other part of the church is in brick and dates from the 18th century.
Inside, you will notice the beautiful brick vaults of the choir and the transept and some very original or unexpected works: in addition to the mausoleum of Michel de Croÿ, the funerary slab of Blandina Rubens, the sister of the famous 17th century painter. We will also see with interest the van der Burch memorials (17th century), the Assumption of De Crayer (17th century), the Cavaillé-Kholl organ, unique in Hainaut and donated by Anna Boch.
