The historic coastal town of Rye is great to visit with or without a bike. In addition to the main street, there are several cobbled streets. Hard cycling does not fit here given the many walkers, but it is certainly interesting to cycle along here.

Thank you for the suggestion. This area is well known to me. As a teenager I spent many summers in Hythe. Some experiences came back to life when we were working out the route to Bath to “CGN” with the smallest possible luggage.

That will be fun. Ruhr area - Calais - Dover - South Coast - Bath.
