The arcades and houses were built on the former city wall after the 16th century and brought into a uniform form (continuous arcade corridor) by Pier Maria Bagnadore.
As Brescias is the Italian Capital of Culture in 2023, the pavement and lighting have been renewed and a pedestrian zone has been created.
