Ice wells were used to store ice produced during the winter and to store it until the summer, when it was marketed. The Can Draper ice well dates from 1771. It is a circular stone construction with a cylindrical shape. It measures approximately 12 meters in total height, but a large part (6.4 m.) Is excavated in the ground. The door of the well is made of granite ashlars and the date of construction can be read on the lintel. The well is covered with a large hemispherical brick dome. The water was collected and left to freeze in a pond upstream. The ice blocks were wrapped in straw and placed in the well. Once full, it was covered with branches, leaves, and earth, and did not reopen until the heat arrived.
