Cappella dei miracoli (XIX), Sacro Monte di Orta
Chapel XIX - Miracles at the tomb of the Saint
The chapel is mentioned for the first time by Bishop Visconti (1698), who mentions the presence of nineteen statues - a crowd of believers and sick people, as well as guards - placed around the tomb of Francis. The execution of the vulture was entrusted to Giuseppe Rusnati (1682-1684), who also worked for the Sacred Mounts of Varese and Domodossola. The Milanese painter Antonio Busca, author of the frescoes, had already worked at the Sacro Monte in Varese, furnishing busy chapels with sculptures by Dionigi Bussola.
