Oldenburg Up until the 1970s, Oldenburg enjoyed a dubious reputation as a bottleneck on the way to the northwest. In the summer months in particular, traffic on the bypass road was backed up in front of the numerous intersections on Cloppenburger Straße or Hauptstraße, which were controlled by traffic lights.
