Built around 1220-1250 and is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. There are 51 gargoyles on it that are only decorative. The current gargoyles were made between 1880-1882. The originals were removed about 1240 due to a fatal accident.
On the side of the church sits an owl, popular with locals and tourists. The owl is from the 15th or 16th century.

The Église Notre-Dame de Dijon is a church in downtown Dijon that was built around 1220-1240. Entry is free and is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The cathedral is already impressive from the outside (especially in the evening sun), you can see the many figures and grimaces on the west side of the church. The gargoyles are just decoration. Also the Jacquemart bell beater stolen by Philip the Bold in Flanders and the polished owl in the Rue de la Chouette.
The spacious interior is animated by colorful glass ornaments. The statue of the Madonna in the right transept is one of the oldest and was previously hardly seen without any clothes on.

On the left outer facade you can find the famous owl, which you should touch with your left hand to bring good luck
