A medieval castle:
The Querumer Burgwall (dialect Borwall) was created in the second half of the 12th century as a so-called tower hill castle or motte in the middle of a formerly larger marshy valley of the Schunter.
It consisted of an artificially raised hill on the Schunter. On top of it stood a stone tower block for the noble family and probably some other buildings. The entire castle complex was protected by a multi-level wall and ditch system and palisades. The castle is documented as abandoned in 1307 and was partially excavated and restored in 2005/06. The castle is located about 1400 meters from the location of the sign in an extension of the Feuerbergweg. There is more information there.
