Its main façade, from the beginning of the 14th century, is one of the most beautiful in medieval Galician art. It is framed by two slightly projecting buttresses, composed of three semicircular archivolts, with elements that clearly point towards a Gothic aesthetic: columns with small shafts and high bases and capitals with plant decorations.
Next to the church is a Gothic transept, the oldest in Galicia, probably from the 14th century. On the obverse it represents a seated Christ Majesty, showing the wounds on his hand, crowned, with a cloth that covers his legs. On the reverse it represents a Calvary.

This small church is the center of the town of Melide. The Camino Frances and the Camino Primitivo converge here.

Saint Roch, to whom this chapel in Melide is dedicated, was born in Montpellier, France, in the mid-14th century. He is popularly known - along with Saint Sebastian - as a "plague saint". Characteristic of the depiction of Rochus in paintings and as a statue is that he usually points to a plague bump on his leg; Often a dog can also be seen at his feet, because according to legend, when he was caring for people suffering from the plague, he was ill himself and withdrew into solitude, providing him with bread every day. The memorial day of Saint Roch in the calendar of saints is August 16th.
