Hiking

A historic chapel-bell tower dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa, built in 1928. The bell – funded by the residents of Łapszanka – warned people of an approaching storm and at the same time “scared off lightning”. This custom is no longer practiced. There is a commemorative plaque by the chapel, commemorating the event of July 17, 1967. At that time, 33-year-old Franciszek Kapołka – a resident of Łapszanka, son of Walenty, who as a 16-year-old boy built the chapel – was fatally struck by lightning while ringing for a storm.
