The Hermitage of San Juan in Albarracín is a small 17th-century temple, built on the remains of an old synagogue. This masonry building with rodeno ashlars at the corners has a single nave with a polygonal presbytery and a barrel vault roof with lunettes.
Inside, you can see simple and colourful Baroque-style mural paintings, as well as a main altarpiece from the 18th century with Solomonic columns and angel heads. The doorway of the hermitage is a semicircular arch with large voussoirs, preceded by an open atrium on pillars.
The hermitage was restored in 2002 by the Santa María de Albarracín Foundation due to its advanced state of deterioration. Today, it is a space with capacity for about 50 people, ideal for holding small events such as presentations, talks and concerts.
