The fortress is an important political symbol for the South Tyroleans: on November 17, 1957, the Sigmundskron Castle rally took place here under the leadership of Silvius Magnago. Over 30,000 South Tyroleans gathered in the castle complex to protest against non-compliance with the Paris Agreement and to demand extensive autonomy for South Tyrol (“Los von Trento”). [4]
