Darwin Park in Zaandam was created around 1970 in the midst of urban expansion. It forms the link between town and country and has an important ecological function.Four themed gardens with matching artworks have been created in the southern half of the park along the north-south path. A woodland garden, a moor garden, a grass garden and a water garden. Each themed garden has its own atmosphere and character. They are independent biotopes in which plants and animals form a unit. However, the gardens have a clear ecological relationship to one another; they remain in balance through their cohesion.facilities in the park
In 1967, Albert Heijn donated the largest children's farm in the Netherlands to the youth of Zaandam. Young and old get to know a wide variety of (small) domestic animals and (large) farm animals on the farm. The E. Heimans Natural History Museum has a primarily educational purpose. This museum gives children a glimpse of the nature that surrounds them. You can see a (peat) meadow landscape, a farm, a house and a room.Since 2005 there has been a school garden in Darwin Park opposite the entrance to the petting zoo. There are several works of art in the southern part of Darwin ParkSource:
