The Hatchs Harbor trail is wide, sandy, fire road that connects the Province Lands Bicycle Trail to Hatches Harbor, a tidal harbor and salt marsh. This lovely, flat trail starts out in a sparsely wooded pine forest that quickly opens up to grant you views of the salt marsh and the Race Point sand dunes. The trail continues along a dike that takes you to the tidal flats. You eventually cross a bridge over streams of salt-water that flow toward or away from the ocean, depending on the tide. If you choose to continue past this point through flats, which are dotted with clumps of American beachgrass, toward Race Point Beach and lighthouse, be prepared to potentially get wet as the tides flow in or out.
