The path over the Zwinger of the Emder Wall from the water tower to the swan pond is really worthwhile.
The Emder Wall was built from 1606 as a fortification. It initially consisted of 11 sections, the so-called kennels. On several kennels there were cannons for defense and on at least 5 kennels there were windmills to supply the population due to the exposed location.
Eight kennels and three windmills (in very different conditions) are still preserved today.
