The first documented information about the Schönauer Mühle dates back to June 21, 1591.
The Niedere Schönauer Mühle is a grain mill with a bakery and was powered by an overshot water wheel until around 1960. It has been under monument protection since 1989.
Today the old mill is the home of the Grenz family. Occasionally the house smells of freshly baked bread when the old German oven is put into operation again.
