A village beautifully situated between mountains and sea on the Agios Nikolaos-Sitia route. The village is home to many abandoned and picturesquely dilapidated houses, as well as many newly built or beautifully renovated buildings.The surrounding countryside is great for hiking; we particularly enjoyed the area above, through olive groves toward the mountains.

Kavousi is a pretty little village on the Agios Nikolaos-Sitia road. It has a picturesque village center. From here you can hike around the gorge at Kavousi or on the long-distance hiking trail E4. A walk to the beach in front is also recommended. And of course a visit to one of the oldest olive trees in Crete.
