"The Stefansbachtal Viaduct is a five-arched viaduct built in 1911 from ashlar masonry in Gevelsberg over the Stefansbach on the Witten-Schwelm railway line. It is approx. 24 m high, around 90 m long and is located at 14.5 km from Witten . The railway line was opened in 1934 and closed in the early 1980s."

"... The Witten–Schwelm railway (also known as the Elbschetalbahn) is a railway line in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in the southeastern Ruhr area that has been largely shut down and is only still in operation on the final sections.

The 4.6-kilometre-long, double-track and now electrified section from Witten Hauptbahnhof to Wengern Ost is now only used for freight traffic.

The 17-kilometer single-track section from Witten-Höhe to Schwelm was to be part of a relief route from the Ruhr area in the direction of Cologne. It was planned to extend the route south beyond Schwelm via Lennep to Cologne, but the events of the First World War prevented this from happening. ..."
