Beautiful natural lake. Here it is very flat in, so perfect for a refreshment break with children. On the south side there is even an extra designated dog beach.

Beautiful nature reserve located in the bog.

The nature reserve is located northeast of Beverstedt. It includes Wollingster Lake and its riparian zone in the north of the reserve and Beverstedter Moor lying to the south of the lake and parts of Osterndorfer Moor, both raised bog areas.
The lake is embedded in a Geest landscape shaped during the Saale cold period [3] or the Vistula cold period [4]. Its origin has not been clearly clarified. It can be an ice age whirlpool. More recent studies assume that it is a pingo, in the hollow form of which water could collect after the ice thawed. [4]
The water quality of the Wollingster lake is oligotrophic. In it come beach sling and water lobelia. The brookwort was also native here, but was last detected at the beginning of the 21st century. [5] Bulrushes and reed beds settle on the shore of the lake. In the transition area to the moor areas south of the Wollingster lake, dwarf shrub heaths settle on sandy soil.
