The castle stands on a small island in the middle of the village Wolfersdorf. It was built in the 16th century as a hunting lodge for Elector Johann Friedrich I. In the end, it threatened to decay before it was bought in 2007 by a Jenaer and since then extensively restored. Today it is open to the public again, but only by appointment.
