The Integral Natural Reserve of the Medes Islands located approximately one kilometer from the coast of L'Estartit, comprises 21 land hectares and 511 marine hectares and is integrated into the territory of the Natural Park of Montgrí les Illes Medes y Baix Ter (Natural Park of Montgrí, the Medes Islands and Bajo Ter). The emerged part is made up of seven islets.
