Petterlaarse schans or Fort Saint Michèl was built in 1623, after Maurits van Oranje in 1603 and 1622 tried to take the city. With every attack, the Bosschenaren flooded the marsh around the city. With both attacks Maurits occupied a height south of the city. The Bosschenaren saw the importance of this height. After Maurits was defeated, the Bosschenaren built the Pettelaarse Schans at this height in 1623. A restaurant is located in the middle of the ramp. There are also regular large events such as the Liberation Festival Brabant and the Citymoves Festival.
