Morleschio Castle (360 m.) Is located in the rolling hills of Civitella Benazzone along the road that leads from Casa del Diavolo to Santa Cristina di Gubbio.
The year of origin is uncertain, it is presumed to be in the twelfth century.

In 1402 the papal troops of Bonifacio IX (1389-1404) occupied the castle, but, soon after, it was reconquered by the people of Perugia.

From Morleschio the so-called “via del fuoco” started, through which, passing through Civitella Benazzone, Ponte Pattoli and Cordigliano, the peasants transported firewood to Porta Sant'Angelo for public and private needs.

The castle is surrounded by a wall with a keep and loopholes. Passing under an arch surmounted by corbels and along a portico, you arrive in the small square where the ancient sandstone buildings overlook. Also part of the complex is the church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo, dependent on the Abbey of Montelabate, where frescoes from the fourteenth century are visible.
