Sentiero 406 Trailhead (Matera Suspension Bridge Entrance)

This is the entrance to the "Sentiero 406" hiking trail, which leads over the rope bridge to the other side of the Gravina Gorge to the Belvedere. The information board is also located here. Tread shoes and some sure-footedness are recommended as there are steep downhill (and uphill) sections. Flip-flops are out of place here. For hikers, this path is highly recommended, a beautiful complement to the actual visit to Matera that should not be missed.

I recommend comfortable shoes, preferably trekking shoes.
Avoid going down in the central hours in summer, it can get really hot!

The entrance to the hiking trail is well signposted and at the beginning with stone steps. But these go very quickly and very steeply into a narrow unpaved path, downhill into the gorge where the suspension bridge for crossing the Torrente Gravina is clearly visible from above🌉
