Charred black tree stumps stand witness to the frequent wildfires devastating the area. One beautiful teaching moment might be the pine resin that has been squeezed out of the toasted tree trunk to form some kind of natural amber, at least looking like the precursor to the fossilized form we normally find millions of years later.
