Currently (Aug-Sept 2023) drainage ditches are being closed and peat walls are being built to protect the moor from drying out. The birch trees on the northern edge of the moor were felled because they drain a lot of water from the moor. Unfortunately, the forest trail as we know and love it no longer exists. Instead, a new path emerges. But until the construction work is completed, cycling will be difficult. See pictures.
