Schwollen is the spring village in the Birkenfeld district. Large and well-known companies fill their swollen bubbles here. The village is usually very quiet. Little traffic, so driving on the main road is usually not life-threatening.
Hajo Böß has now opened his country inn again, a stop is always recommended.

Schwollen is also interesting for hikers (Marriage Loop Magic Forest) and mountain bikers (Waldmeister Trail).

Until the end of the 18th century, Schwollen belonged to the Upper County of Sponheim and, as part of the Hambach care, was under the administration of the Oberamt Birkenfeld. Schwollen had 31 families in 1607 and nine in 1699, and in 1790 the town had 199 inhabitants.

In 1794, the left bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops. From 1798 to 1814, Schwollen belonged to the canton of Birkenfeld in the Saar department. Based on the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region came under the Oldenburg Principality of Birkenfeld in 1817. The municipality was assigned to the mayor's office of Leisel in Birkenfeld. From 1918 onwards, Schwollen belonged to the Oldenburg district of Birkenfeld, and in 1937 it became part of the Prussian district of Birkenfeld. Schwollen has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946.
