The Hofgut Stammen goes back to the castle of the von Pappenheim family. The castle also still exists on the site surrounded by a wall. Today it is a retirement home. The castle was built in 1770, but the family ruled over Stammen from 1429.
The family is so well known because the married Countess Diana von Rabe von Pappenheim was a mistress of Jerome Bonaparte and had two children with him.

After the Second World War, the family was forced to sell parts of the property. This is how today's privately used Hofgut Stammen, owned by the Huckebein family, came into being.

On the Hofgut you can not only stay overnight in the straw hotel, but also stop off and, above all, rent canoes for a tour on the Diemel.
