The Würzburger- or Galgentor is one of 5 drivable gates into the city. The name Galgentor comes from the fact that it used to be the place of execution with the gallows in front of the gate, on the so-called Köpfleinswieslein. It is the highest point of the Rothenburg city fortifications. The Galgentorturm was built around 1388.

The gate referred to here is the Würzburg Gate or Galgen Gate. The name Galgentor comes from the fact that the place of execution with the gallows used to be here in front of the gate, on the so-called Köpfleinswieslein. It is one of 5 motorable gates into the city. The tower cannot be visited, the only towers that can be visited are the town hall tower and the Röder tower.
