If the water levels after snowmelt make crossing of the South Fork Kings River here unpleasant, coming from the north you can follow an alternate trail on the east bank that reunites with the PCT /JMT after several smaller and the next major crossings further South. Near the junction with the JMT north of the river crossing are great camp spots.
