The marketplace fountain was erected on the occasion of the opening of the pedestrian zone in 1986. The eight bronze plates stand for the trades in the region.

The listed building, which now houses the local history museum, was built after the fire of 1723. Many exhibits in the museum show the history of Haiger and its districts from Celtic times to the 20th century.
