“Only” 2,886 steps up a steep mule track separate Savogno from the rest of the Valchiavenna and the rest of the world. From the town of Sarlone in Borgonuovo di Piuro, not far from the Acquafraggia waterfalls, follow the mulattiera, the mule path that leads straight into the forest and up the mountain, always along the terraces of dry stone walls where the vines once grew.
