Prince Nicholas I traveled to Frankfurt am Main for the coronation of Joseph II as Roman king in 1764 and used this opportunity to travel on to Versailles. He came up with the plan to build a similar castle and commissioned the court architects Mödlhammer and Melchior Heesel to do it. The magnificent baroque building, which also shows similarities with Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, consists of a main building and open stairs to the central wing, which end in a balcony. It is one of the largest rococo castles in Hungary and is part of the world cultural heritage.
