The old mesteñas ravines were the communication highways that crossed the Iberian Peninsula from the mountains and moors of the northern half, the Pyrenees, the Iberian System and the Cantabrian Mountains to the warm winter pastures of Extremadura and Andalusia. The purpose of the cattle trails was the movement of transhumant cattle, but with the herds and shepherds they also traveled for more than five centuries, news, customs and thoughts that made cattle ranching and the wool trade, with all its derivatives, a first class economic resource. The Cañada Real Soriana Oriental is one of the nine main ravines established by the Council of the Mesta, and also the longest, in total it has more than 800 kilometers between the mountains of the Soria region of Tierras Altas and the city of Seville.
