    ABOUT THE POET'S HOUSE

The "House of the Poet" is one of the most playful pieces of landscape art in the RheinMain Regional Park. But: Whoever approaches the project in the high ginkgo grove, which is ostensibly dedicated to Goethe, will find insight on many levels - how different should it be with a symbol of poetry that has become stone?

A house without outer walls, a (pen) quill like a weather vane in the wind, inscribed metal plates like leaves blown in, a former gravel pit that became a landfill and is now covered in green: many associations immediately come to mind. Perhaps thoughts about what is fleeting in art, especially in poetry. The always open, but also unprotected house, lonely high up on a hill. Below that is the deep foundation, shaped by upheavals. Interpreters have a lot of fun there - but you can also sit down on the approximately twelve meter high elevation without any ulterior motives, enjoy the view and the light summer breeze.

Summer? Yes, because this place tastes like summer day. There is something serene and serene about him. And the spiritus rector of the place would certainly have liked that very much. The house with the cross-shaped central wall and the eleven-meter-diameter roof is dedicated to all poets. But something more to the great Goethe. And not only because of the proximity to his native city of Frankfurt, but also because in 1814 he ended up on one of his many trips to the Flörsheim region. His journey was dedicated to the rivers Rhine, Main and Neckar. Rivers that were chosen as a matter of the heart by the young romantics at that time - true places of longing. And Goethe? Was inspired to his most famous cycle of poems, the West-Eastern Divan. This is also where the famous poem about the duck foot tree, the ginkgo, comes from. It deals with the special shape of the leaf, which is so symbolically split. If you want to know what the inspiring tree looks like, you only have to go to the house with the "book walls": A ginkgo grove has been planted around it.
