On Passo della Futa, between two other bas-reliefs, this plaque commemorates the cycling champion Gastone Nencini (1930-1980). Nicknamed "The Lion of Mugello", Nencini won a Giro d'Italia and was the fourth of seven Italian Tour de France winners. After his death, the Cronoscalata della Futa was dedicated to him, which arrived here starting from Barberino and was won, over the years, by champions of the caliber of Francesco Moser and Gianni Bugno.
