Best Mountain Bike Rides to Jacob’s Ladder
Tips
  • Known for its steepness for walkers - experience it on a bike for some white knuckle riding,

  • This was at the limit of my MTB skills - throughly enjoyed it but it was tough - my son flew down - if you have the skills it is awesome, if you dont its still awesome - just a lot slower! :-)

  • Fantastic descent. Fairly technical, need to be comfortable on rock with lots of step downs. Plenty of grip even when wet.

  • Bottom end of Jacobs Ladder descent. Another spicy, rocky and fun blast down the hillside.

  • Watch out for head sized boulders that will kick you off your line.

  • Lots of line options and a few drops to link together

  • Wild and rocky, killer descent.

  • Rocky descent, can get real fast and rowdy, will definitly test the forearms.

  • After a horrible climb up this is quite a technical descent, but there are easier lines. Only problem is walkers will likely be on them. Great taster of what to expect when you get to the full on Jacobs descent. Can be really busy at the weekends as you would expect, so be prepared to holla at ppl to let them know you’re coming. When you get to the the Cairn coming from Hayfield way, you want to go through the gate on the right. That’s the bridleway down you won’t generally get walkers on there. They will be on the footpath.

  • So bumpy! Need to go tubeless so I can let the tyres down a little bit.

    • May 27, 2021

  • Much like the Mam Tor Road, the bridleway has cracked, broken & slid a bit leaving a few drop offs among the boulders & rocks.
