Since 1897, the Fehmarn Museum in Burg has been displaying fascinating exhibits on the island's geology in 22 exhibition rooms, including the Schröder family's stone collection, the region's history, traditional crafts, guilds, seafaring, and hunting.

The Fehmarn Museum Burg was built on October 29, 1897 by the medical officer Dr. Reinicke and the teacher Voß in two rooms of the former Latin school. In 1940, the building was expanded by adding the organist's house and, with it, the number of exhibited museum items to around 20 rooms. In this context, the former farmer, local historian, writer and long-time museum director Peter Wiepert (1890-1980) has made a lasting contribution. The museum was further expanded in 1980 with the addition of the preacher's widow's house, which was built in 1581, which is directly adjacent. Today, exhibits on the topics of the geology of the island of Fehmarn (including the Schröder family's stone collection), regional history, crafts, guilds, seafaring and hunting are presented to interested visitors in 23 rooms.
