Between the northwest slope of the 904 m high Schützenberg and the southeast slope of the 832.4 m high Dürren Kopf, both southwest of Oberhof, the ground stretches 7.82 km to the west-southwest and curves south of the Hohen Stein (860 m) towards the northwest to Oberschönau .
