S3 - S4 or Black Diamond rating. The first part from the road is a really nice pedal through the woods. Once you leave the passo the path gets narrow with switchbacks and tight rocky sections. Some exposed parts along the way. This is a hiking path and not a maintained bike trail, please be aware of this.

Not far from the Passo della Mezzaluna, the ruins of a protohistoric pastoral settlement were found; the pass would later have been used by the Saracens as a base from which they launched their raids towards southern Piedmont. The Via Marenca, an ancient road connecting the Riviera di Ponente and the Ligurian hinterland, passed through the pass. The path that today follows the ancient itinerary reaches the Passo di Mezzaluna coming from the Passo della Teglia and continues inland towards Monte Monega.

The only feasible paths are by descending towards the Rezzo valley (east) or by continuing on the dirt road to the north towards the Passo Pianlatte. The descents on the side of the Argentina valley (west) quickly become difficult (S3.)
