In 1915, the four-component lime works at the bottom of the bowl was built and consisted of the still visible lime kiln, a bridge and outbuildings and two silos. Directly next to the lime works on the factory site there was also a residential building, which was demolished in 1985.
Production in the lime works was discontinued in 1957. After years of uncertainty about the future of the factory and the grounds, the city became the owner in 1985 and submitted an application for demolition. The Technical Relief Agency (THW) offered as part of a training measure to take over the demolition of the two silo towers. After a detailed appraisal of the factory premises by a structural engineer in 1986 and for cost reasons, the demolition was postponed again and again. In 1993, the owner decided to dismantle it. The bridge and outbuildings should be torn and the two silos should be blown up. It was decided to make a targeted, controlled demolition (auxiliary blasting), since on the right side of the factory premises a mobile radio relay station of Telekom was and still is.

Built in 1915. Production in the lime works was stopped in 1957.
In 1995, the structural engineer, who was already active in 1986, again prepared an appraisal of the still standing lime kiln. He advised the owner to demolish the building by 1998 in view of the static and structural stability.
